Downstream: Process & Technology: ETRM Support

PBF Holding Company, LLC, (PBF) is one of the largest independent petroleum refiners and suppliers of unbranded transportation fuels, heating oil, petrochemical feedstocks, lubricants, and other petroleum products in the United States. PBF initially engaged Opportune to help define its overall IT strategy and systems landscape and to complete a full ERP and ETRM system selection and implementation.

After a successful IPO, PBF growth continued, in addition to normal business operations. The commercial group had capital continually at risk, and the urgency for a reliable IT support organization was paramount to sustain their competitive advantage. In an effort to provide business continuity, Opportune proposed a hybrid onsite/offsite ETRM support model as a service offering beyond typical IT support models.

Opportune delivered onsite functional support to provide guidance in navigating complex transactions and collecting input related to process improvements, while managing services for offsite application and infrastructure support. Our familiarity of PBF’s business objectives and our comprehensive knowledge of their specific business processes enabled Opportune to deliver a viable long-term support model and enabled PBF to achieve additional value out of their ETRM capital investment.

Business processes and technology are core competencies of Opportune’s consultants. Our deep knowledge of the energy industry includes exploration and production, processing and pipelines, feedstock sourcing, refining, power and gas utilities, and financial and physical products marketing and trading. This makes us well-suited to advise and drive results across the energy supply chain through business processes and technology deployment and optimization.
