Farhana Ahmed is a Managing Director in Opportune’s Restructuring Practice. Farhana’s experience includes extensive strategic and advisory assignments with oil and gas clients. Prior to joining Opportune, Farhana worked as an energy investment banker at Goldman Sachs, a private equity investor at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and a consultant at Accenture.
- Financial advisor to unsecured creditor committee of shale-focused E&P company. Led the diligence effort around valuation, assets and potential avoidance actions. Improved recovery for the unsecured creditors including issuance of primary equity, warrants and new money participation rights.
- Financial advisor to unsecured creditor committee of an Oklahoma-based, E&P company. Led the diligence effort around valuation, reserves, lien analysis, tax and hedging strategies. Reviewed term sheets and documents for new financing. Negotiated with management, second lien holders and other stakeholders to improve recovery for the unsecured creditors including additional equity, warrants and additional payments in cash. Testified as witness during the confirmation hearing regarding the analysis conducted by the UCC.
- Served as financial advisor to a Bakken-focused oil and gas producer in its Chapter 11 restructuring. Led efforts on midstream contract renegotiations and litigation support.
- Advised the first lien lenders of an upstream MLP through an in-court restructuring. Identified opportunities to improve the business around operations, costs, potential liabilities, asset quality and asset sales.
