Professional Experience
Marty is a Partner in Opportune’s Process and Technology practice. Marty has 15 years of experience in providing clients with energy trading and risk management, packaged software implementation, risk policy organization, trading and risk processes, and business process automation. Marty specializes in physical and financial trading of and risk management of crude oil, refined products, natural gas, NGLs and power markets. Prior to joining Opportune, Marty worked in the energy consulting trading and risk systems practice at other consulting firms, where he managed multiple project teams through the entire process of software selection to successful implementation of trading and risk management systems for energy trading entities.

Representative Projects
- Managed ConocoPhillips global systems implementation of SolArc. Developed and managed work plan for 50-person team over a three-year period, with a budget in excess of $48 million. Served as Functional Architect. Replaced six legacy custom systems with vendor package in Houston, London and Singapore across crude oil, refined products, heavy products and natural gas liquids, for both physical and financial deals. Led the software selection that included TriplePoint, TradeCapture and SolArc.
- Advised on the selection of OpenLink for Shell Trading. Developed overall project timelines, approach, budget estimates and work plan for implementation program. Led the Business Process Analysis team to identify core design elements for subsequent implementation of OpenLink for 1200 planned users across crude oil, refined products, LNG and downstream supply businesses operating out of 10 trading offices and various regional facilities.
- Conducted trading systems analysis and developed trading systems strategy for Direct Energy, the North American arm of Centrica. Reviewed existing vendor systems and custom-developed systems, assessed gaps versus current and planned business activities, developed systems roadmap for next three years of related IT spend.
- Designed processes, documented system capabilities and configured TriplePoint Tempest for Koch Supply & Trading business. Conducted extensive testing of the modifications required for Koch’s physical trading and blending businesses to ensure that vendor software met specifications.
