Professional Experience

Scott Anchin is a Managing Director in Opportune’s Energy Restructuring Practice in New York. Scott specializes in providing restructuring advisory services to companies and stakeholders in distressed situations. He has over 19 years of leadership experience spanning a variety of industries. Scott’s primary areas of expertise include liquidity and working capital management, bankruptcy planning and strategy and development and implementation of strategic business plans. Prior to joining Opportune, Scott worked for Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Restructuring Practice. He is a non-practicing Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA with a concentration in Management from Columbia Business School. Scott currently serves on the Board of Directors of LRAD Corporation (Nasdaq: LRAD).

Representative Projects

  • Financial advisor to global supplier of marine fuel oil. Led company through Chapter 11 proceedings and emergence. Assessed liquidity, performed §363 sale of marine grade fuel, sold non-core assets and worked with executive management to reduce operating overhead. Negotiated settlement agreements with significant creditors which became the basis for court-approved bankruptcy plan.
  • Financial advisor to Debtor in Possession. Work included bankruptcy planning and cash flow forecasting. Responsible for creating business models and managing accounts payable and executory contract review processes. Led extensive review of strategic business plans; worked with executive and unit level management to streamline vendors, establish reporting metrics.
