Opportune LLP Welcomes New Managing Director

DENVER – Opportune LLP announced today that Steve Stophel joined the firm as a Managing Director in Denver, CO.  Mr. Stophel brings over 20 years of experience to Opportune in several industry sectors, including Mining, Oil & Gas, Chemicals and Communications & Media. His principal focus will be assisting companies with US GAAP and IFRS technical compliance and reporting, IPO readiness, M&A reporting and integration, financial due diligence and process improvement.

Prior to joining Opportune LLP, Mr. Stophel was an advisory director with KPMG in Denver where he was a senior leader in the firms Accounting Advisory Services team and was the firm’s southwest lead director for IFRS conversion services.  He was also responsible for expanding service offerings in Denver, Phoenix and other West/Southwest locations.  Prior to that, he was the chief financial officer for Reuters CIS operations.

Mr. Stophel began his career with Arthur Andersen in Denver and also lived and worked internationally for 13 years (1992-2005) including three years as the head of Arthur Andersen’s Uzbekistan practice in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Mr. Stophel currently serves as a Director, member of the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Compensation Committee of Worldwide Papa’s Inc., a Denver, CO based corporation with international operations.

Mr. Stophel is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Colorado, and a Certified Internal Auditor. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants; and the Institute of Certified Internal Auditors.
