OSU School of Accounting will host annual accounting conferences in next month

The School of Accounting at Oklahoma State University will host the 13th annual Oil and Gas Accounting Conference and the 17th annual Accounting and Financial Reporting Conference Nov. 16-17 at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, 616 W. Seventh St.

“The School of Accounting is thrilled to bring these industry experts to Oklahoma and the accounting and business community,” said George Krull, interim head of the School of Accounting. “These conferences provide an excellent opportunity for participants to learn and network with other professionals who are facing the same issues.”

This conference is for all professionals involved in accounting and financial reporting. Attendees will earn five CPE credits by attending the oil and gas accounting conference and eight CPE credits including two hours of ethics by attending the accounting and financial reporting conference.

The oil and gas accounting conference will be noon-5 p.m. Nov. 16. Speakers include Chris Delk, vice president, general tax counsel, ConocoPhillips, Houston; Jonathan Duersch, associate chief accountant, office of the chief accountant, U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission; Michael Flickinger, adviser, customs and accounting with the American Petroleum Institute; Byrony Coan, director, upstream with Opportune, LLP; and Bill Hale, principal of advisory services with EY.

The accounting and financial reporting conference will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 17. The conference moderator is Melanie Harvey, instructor of professional practice at the OSU School of Accounting. Speakers include Melissa Rocha, senior assistant chief accountant, with the Securities and Exchange Commission; John Fiebig, senior deputy director with PCAOB; Harold L. Monk Jr. with the Financial Accounting Standards Board; Ken Cameron, director of compensation and benefits consulting with Grant Thornton LLP; OSU business professor Lee Manzer; John Brittain with PricewaterhouseCoopers; Keith Waldrop, oil and gas senior manager with Deloitte.

Others include Ted Timmermans, vice president, controller and chief accounting officer with The Williams Cos.; Tom Sell, vice president, controller and chief accounting officer with SemGroup; and Jeremy Clopton, director of big data and analytics for Digital Forensics.
