David is active in several civic and professional organizations, including the AICPA, the IPAA, and the Turnaround Management Association.
John Vanderhider
Executive Profile
John is the Partner in charge of the Corporate Finance Group of Opportune. With twenty-six years of business experience, including nine years as a senior executive in industry, John manages the Corporate Finance Group with specialized services focused in the areas of mergers and acquisition due diligence and public securities-based transactions. Prior to joining Opportune, John was CEO of The Dorato Group, a transactional service firm focused on providing M&A related due diligence and strategic consulting to assist in capital sourcing. John is a member of the AICPA and IPAA.
Josh Sherman
Executive Profile
Josh is the Partner in charge of the Financial Reporting Group of Opportune. Josh has ten years of experience in providing clients with the technical aspects of financial reporting, SEC filings and financial due diligence assistance. Josh’s technical expertise includes energy trading and derivatives, variable interest entities, business combinations, stock-based compensation and revenue recognition. Prior to joining Opportune, Josh worked in the audit and global energy markets departments with Deloitte & Touche where he managed the audits of regulated gas and electric utilities, independent power producers and energy trading entities.
John B. Echols
John is a Managing Director in the Corporate Finance Group of Opportune. John has twenty-five years of business experience, including six years as a senior executive in the energy industry. Prior to joining Opportune, John was a partner with Arthur Andersen’s energy audit practice serving E&P, Refining and Trading entities. John left Arthur Andersen to become Chief of Staff of Enron’s Wholesale & Trading division.
Don Jefferis
Don is a Partner in the Energy Supply and Trading Group of Opportune. Don has over twenty years of experience, including twelve years as a senior manager and co-founder of Arthur Andersen’s Energy Risk Management Practice where he served numerous clients in the energy and utilities industries. Prior to joining Opportune Don was chief information officer for one of the top energy trading and marketing companies in North America, he has also held a variety of senior management positions in software and consulting firms serving the energy, investment banking and hedge fund industries.
Marty Makulski
Marty is a Partner in the Energy Supply and Trading Group of Opportune. Marty has thirteen years of experience in providing clients with energy trading and risk management, packaged software implementation, risk policy organization, trading and risk processes and business process automation. Prior to joining Opportune, Marty worked in the energy consulting trading & risk systems practice at Sirius Solutions and Accenture.
Corwin Moczygemba
Corwin is a Managing Director in the Energy Supply and Trading Group of Opportune. Corwin has almost two decades of energy trading and financial services experience amassed from his roles at Prudential Securities, GE Capital, Andersen Consulting, and Reliant Energy. Prior to joining Opportune, Corwin was a partner at Sirius Solutions and was responsible for the management of the Energy Consulting Supply, Trading, and Risk Management practice. Corwin advises clients in the selection, design, and implementation of custom or packaged software applications that enable the trading of physical and financial energy commodities.
Davis Maxey
Dave is a Managing Director in the Tax Group of Opportune. Dave has over twenty-five years of corporate tax and finance experience with Fortune 500 and mid-cap publicly-held energy companies and public accounting firms. Prior to joining Opportune, Dave was senior vice president of tax and treasury at an S&P 600 oil services firm and was previously vice president of tax planning and structured finance at a Fortune 50 integrated energy company. Dave is active in a variety of professional and non-profit organizations, including the Houston CPA Society, the Houston Bar Association, and Houston Grand Opera.
James E. Boney
Jim is a Financial Executive with thirty-five years of extensive experience in corporate finance and management of energy companies, including oil and gas exploration and production, and pipeline and coal methane companies. He developed efficient and flexible computer models for short and long-range planning and for the purchase and disposition of properties. Jim is skilled in start-up operations of both private and public companies and is experienced in SEC reporting. He designed and implemented several unique data base systems and served as Controller of Transco Energy’s Oil & Gas operations. Jim graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1970 and has been a CPA since 1974. He has over 15 years experience in Oil & Gas back office outsourcing and formed PetroAcct in January of 1999.
