Curt Taylor is the President of Ralph E. Davis Associates.  Curt has over thirty years of leadership experience in the energy space where he has technically reviewed hundreds of deals as well as structured the financing on many of those which included, senior debt, subordinated debt, preferred equity and common equity.  In addition, Curt has provided leadership managing teams in the financial and technical space, as well as managing transactions that were both domestic and international and including the areas of upstream, midstream, coal and alternatives.

Prior to joining Opportune, Curt was Managing Director and Head of EIG Engineering for EIG Global Energy Partners for 14 years. Curt started his career at Union Oil of California, was with Cawley, Gillespie and Associates and since then has focused on financing upstream and midstream development projects for various finance companies. Curt is a certified professional engineer in the state of Texas, and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Houston and a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.


  • Over the last 14 years, as Managing Director, both as Head of Oil & Gas and then Head of Engineering, helped grow EIG from 30 to 110 employees and the growth of Assets Under Management from $2 billion to more than $16 billion.
  • Managed the review and structuring of transactions in almost every major unconventional play in the US with companies participating in the drilling of over 10,000 wells.
  • Managed the review and structuring of financing for a deep-water Gulf of Mexico field.
  • Managed the review and structuring of financing for EOR projects such as steam flooding project in California and a CO2 project in Wyoming.
  • Managed the review of multiple international packages of assets for acquisition including South America, Indonesia, Canada and the North Sea.
  • Led teams that had oversight of 50 different energy workout credits that covered the upstream, midstream and service sectors.
  • Reviewed upstream and midstream assets across the US in both conventional and unconventional, waterfloods and EOR projects, CBM and gas dewatering plays, on the shelf as well as in deep-water GOM.
