Downstream: Process & Technology: Undisclosed: Commodity Trading & Risk Management Implementation
Undisclosed Oil & Gas Co. is one of the largest integrated oil companies in the world. Annually ranked near the top of global and U.S. Fortune 500 lists for more than 50 years, it is a recognized leader in the oil and gas industry. Undisclosed Oil & Gas Co. has re-evaluated their practices in commodity trading and risk and determined there are significant opportunities to increase the profitability of their global downstream unit by changing their approach to commercial decision-making.
Specifically, Opportune professionals were tasked to:
- Enable new trading practices by implementing IT solutions to consistently measure the commercial performance of trading decisions;
- Develop new reports and solutions to support the start-up of a new Risk Control organization;
- Provide outside expertise on other Trading and Risk Management platforms and experiences across the industry in implementing those tools; and
- Supplement the key project leadership roles where the client does not have deep experience.
Given the complex environment and all the competing priorities, Opportune added tremendous value by choosing to break down the overall program into a series of smaller tracks with several agile deliveries. This allowed us to get alignment on smaller elements of scope and then build components that can flexibly be assembled into larger capabilities. We accomplished this by providing a project management approach to organize this execution and leveraged the latest technologies in digital transformation across multiple systems (i.e., ERPs, analytics, Big Data, APIs, etc.).
Whether it’s deploying major trading platforms, analyzing market opportunities, managing financial reporting or developing information technology strategies, Opportune’s team of professionals has the depth of energy expertise and industry knowledge to assist trading organizations and their partners in achieving their strategic vision. We have a unique combination of professionals with specific commodities trading skills along with consulting, technology and operational experience. For more information, CLICK HERE.
