Process & Technology: CTRM Business Startup
An investment bank and commodity trader with Russian roots started up a physical commodities business. The company chose OpenLink RightAngle to support their new physical business. The company engaged Opportune to lead the delivery of the greenfield Commodities Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) solution.
While leading the delivery of the front-to-back CTRM solution, Opportune’s Process & Technology consultants also supported the setup of a new physical trading business in Europe. Opportune defined the new business processes and implemented crude, refined products, and coal into RightAngle. Due to the nature of the client, a particular focus of the implementation was on profit and loss (P&L) attribution, Credit and Market Risk, and integrating foreign exchange (FX) delta functionality within RightAngle. Opportune developed these interfaces as part of the implementation. There was minimum user involvement due to the startup nature of the project, and Opportune was called upon to provide additional business expertise around physical commodity risk and operations.
