Downstream: Process & Technology: IT Infrastructure & Systems Cutover

One of the largest crude oil refiners in the U.S. (“the Company”) is expanding its business by integrating chemical supply chains within its business and is also expanding through construction of new petrochemicals facilities.

The Company engaged Opportune to manage the IT infrastructure and systems cutover plan. This included assessing the scope of systems being transitioned, coordinating the various teams and monitoring the progress and issues during the cutover weekend. Opportune was also engaged as the project manager for the integration of this newly acquired business line into the existing RightAngle commercial business system.

Opportune professionals added value by executing the cutover on time, on budget and without interruption to plant production. Within 24 hours there were no outstanding critical incidents. This was accomplished by providing a project management approach that draws upon years of accumulated experience in managing the IT issues faced in these types of acquisitions. Because of our proven success with this client, Opportune is still engaged to manage the ongoing transition to fully integrate the acquired assets into existing processes and systems.

Technology touches every element of the energy industry. Opportune has deep and broad experience across the energy supply chain — from asset development and production to processing, transportation and markets. We have the necessary depth of expertise in oil and liquids, natural gas, power, coal, and emissions to select, evolve, integrate and manage high-impact technology solutions. We understand the importance of keeping operations running smoothly while concurrently managing portfolio risks and maintaining compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
