Midstream: Reserve Engineering & Geosciences: Type Curve Development & Well Performance Review
A private equity-backed midstream company (“the Company”) selectively evaluates acquisition opportunities with an eye toward the strategic expansion of underutilized assets in both mature and emerging basins.
Ralph E. Davis Associates (RED) professionals were hired by the Company with an oil gathering system in the Denver-Julesburg (D-J) Basin. The Company is well-positioned to expand in the basin and hired RED engineers to conduct a review of well performance and well inventory in proposed expansion areas.
RED professionals added value by using proprietary reservoir and geological analysis to develop average type curve for recent completion technology with 7,500 ft. laterals in the four areas identified by the client. Type curves were developed by formation (Niobrara and Codell). A high-level estimate of how many wells can be drilled in each bench-per-section and spacing based on public operator investor presentations was developed. The results were presented to the client with suitable recommendations on well inventory and reservoir performance.
Established in 1924, RED is one of the most respected international independent petroleum engineering firms. RED performs petroleum engineering and geological studies, independently certifies reserve reports and prepares financial analyses and technical evaluations for use in litigation or regulatory hearings.
