Dan is a Managing Director at Opportune, where he leads the firm’s Sustainability advisory practice. He joined Opportune in 2026 following the firm’s acquisition of PEP Consulting & Advocacy, a practice he built and led at Pickering Energy Partners (PEP). Dan’s work focuses on helping capital-intensive businesses navigate the convergence of energy, power, and technology, ensuring that corporate sustainability strategies align with economic realities and investor expectations.
Before his tenure at Opportune and PEP, Dan spent over eight years at Nasdaq, serving as AVP of IR Business Development & Product Strategy. At Nasdaq, he developed and commercialized a suite of industry-leading analytics, including the Strategic Capital Intelligence platform, the ESG Advisory Service, and various activist diagnostic tools. His expertise in investor behavior and capital market trends has made him a sought-after advisor for hundreds of private and public companies.
A prolific thought leader, Dan has authored over 65 articles in publications such as Harvard Business Review, the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance, CNBC, and Bloomberg. He is the author of The Radical Middle: How Fossil Fuels and Renewables Can Collaborate On The Future of Energy and host of the PetroNoia podcast. Dan has delivered more than 250 presentations to global policymakers, boards, and regulators on energy policy and capital discipline.
Dan earned a BA from the University of Chicago and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at Marquette University, where he teaches Sustainable Finance and Strategy, and has held similar faculty roles at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and Carthage College.
Dan is an active advocate for the energy industry and academic excellence. He serves on the IPAA Capital Markets Committee, is an Advisory Board Member and Co-Director for Marquette University’s Sustainability Lab, and sits on the PRAGMA Advocacy Committee. Previously, he served on the advisory board for the Energy ESG Council.
