Professional Experience
John Beaird is Vice President of Ralph E. Davis Associates (RED), an Opportune LLP company, based in Houston. John has 42 years of oil and gas management, reservoir engineering, and petroleum economics evaluation experience. John began his career with Anadarko Petroleum Corp. in the Permian Basin overseeing Waterfloods and providing reservoir engineering and economic support for Anadarko’s acquisition and exploration efforts. After 25 years with Anadarko in various technical and managerial roles, he left to co-found Legado Resources with the support of EnCap Investments. Legado pursued CO2 floods, as well as unconventional resource plays. The company was ultimately sold to Kinder Morgan. Before joining Opportune, John was an independent reservoir engineering consultant where he provided support for a variety of oil and gas clients with a primary focus on acquisitions in onshore oil and gas plays.
John is a registered Petroleum Engineer in the State of Texas and holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana Tech University. He is also an active member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE).
