Patrick Long is a Principal in Opportune LLP’s Process & Technology practice. With over 20 years of experience, Patrick specializes in energy trading and risk management, packaged software implementation, trading and risk processes, and business process automation. He leads the firm's Business Intelligence (BI) initiative, applying BI tools such as Spotfire to client data, enabling better management insights into both upstream and downstream business issues. His current focus is helping clients address inventory and supply chain management challenges.

Before joining Opportune, Patrick worked in the energy consulting trading and risk systems practice at Accenture, where he led project teams through software selection and the successful implementation of trading and risk management systems for energy trading entities.

Representative Projects

• Led the implementation of supply chain optimization software, WAM, for AmeriGas, enabling daily order creation across all locations, including trucks, rail, and pipeline.
• Designed, built, tested, and implemented an Inventory Management system for Limetree Bay Refining, capable of tracking daily inventory, including custody transfers (both estimated and actual), pricing, forecasts, and nominations.
• Designed and deployed a custom trade capture and risk management system for Limetree Bay Refining to track and manage daily risk exposure, P&L, and margin.
• Implemented the RightAngle trading risk management system for PBF Energy, testing and deploying functionality across commercial front, mid, and back offices for crude and refined products.
• Implemented an integrated rail solution for PBF Energy, tracking and managing 5,000+ rail cars and crude business across refineries.
• Designed and built a perpetual inventory tracking tool for PBF Energy, incorporating multi-modal transportation and an extensive terminal network.
