Professional Experience

Raymond is the President of Ralph E. Davis, an Opportune LLP subsidiary, where he leads the execution of independent third-party oil and gas reserve analysis, asset evaluations, and technical advisory. He has over 30 years of energy industry experience, specializing in reservoir evaluation, asset underwriting, asset development planning, and asset acquisitions and divestitures. Prior to Opportune, he was Managing Director and Technical Lead at Cantor Fitzgerald, where he oversaw the technical aspects on over $2 billion in Asset Backed Securitization (ABS) issuances. 

Previously, Raymond served as Senior Managing Director and Co-COO at Mountain Capital, managing the technical and operational aspects of $1.5 billion in assets and responsible for the technical evaluation of all new investments. Prior to Mountain Capital, he was Head of A&D Technical at Wells Fargo Securities, overseeing $35 billion in transactions. He began his career at Chevron, holding various reservoir engineering and commercial roles. 

Raymond earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering with Honors from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Duke University. Raymond is active in the energy community, previously serving as a Program Committee Board Member for the SPE Business Development Study Group. He is also a member of the SPE, Houston Producers Forum, and various industry network groups.

Representative Projects

  • Experience operating, evaluating, buying, and selling conventional and unconventional assets in nearly all Lower 48 Basins and offshore.
  • Experience working with institutional equity investors, bank led financing, rating agencies, and insurance investors to deliver required technical support and diligence for investment decisions.
  • Leads independent third-party reserve evaluations, technical assessments and advisory
  • Leads technical underwriting, equity and debt financing support, and deal due diligence for asset acquisitions.
  • Experience evaluating and overseeing drilling and development programs in the Mid-Continent, Eagle Ford/STX, Permian Basin, Barnett, and East TX/NLA.
  • Experience working with midstream clients and projecting throughput and supply volumes for infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical proficiency utilizing ARIES, Enverus, and Spotfire and communicating complex technical topics to investors, stakeholders, and decision makers.
