The Challenge

A major oil and gas company with extensive operations in the Haynesville and Cotton Valley formations faced a unique challenge. With over 2,300 wells and a recent large-scale acquisition, they needed to seamlessly integrate these newly acquired assets into Quorum from a legacy BOLO system. This required a strategic and comprehensive approach, and they turned to Opportune to lead this effort.

The Solution

Opportune's team took on the challenge with a strategic and comprehensive approach, leading a full-scale conversion from BOLO to Quorum in an impressively short four-month TSA period. The solution involved the team performing the following steps:

• Data Cleansing and Template Population: The Opportune team leveraged a data analytics tool called Alteryx to cleanse the acquired data and populate load templates to integrate it into Quorum across all significant areas of Revenue, JIB, Land, Master Data, and historical transactional data. The Opportune team converted all elements, less Land, by themselves, without Quorum support. Over 2,000 properties, 30,000 BAs, 30,000 agreements, and 600,000 rows of DOI data were successfully cleansed and integrated into Quorum in under a four-month timeframe.
• Comprehensive Support: The Opportune team delivered comprehensive Quorum application support, serving as super users to facilitate a smooth monthly close and consistently supporting the client throughout the engagement.
• Project Management: Opportune oversaw the entire acquisition project as both the project manager and the liaison between the client and Quorum. Opportune supported the client through User Acceptance Testing, Cutover, and Hypercare, ensuring a smooth transition during the first two monthly closes post-integration.
• Historical Data Warehouse Support: The Opportune team collaborated with the client to extract seven years of historical transactional data, creating databases for the client's team to utilize in their research on past transactions. The team also developed a historical division order transfer history log so the DOI team could research past transfers.

The asset acquisition and integration project was a resounding success, thanks to the seamless collaboration between the client, Quorum, and the dedicated Opportune team.
