About Small Steps
Small Steps was founded in 1995 to meet the needs of some of Houston’s youngest and most at-risk children. Their mission is to provide an exemplary early childhood program to instill and foster economically at-risk children and their families’ social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth.
The communities Small Steps serves lack sufficient, affordable childcare options for families.
Children who do not have access to stimulating learning environments – which is especially true for low-income students – may be as many as 18 months behind their peers by the time they start kindergarten.
Small Steps is a high-quality early childhood education program that helps narrow the opportunity gap between children from low- and high-income backgrounds.
