PBF Energy (“PBF”) is one of the largest independent petroleum refiners and suppliers of unbranded transportation fuels, heating oil, petrochemical feedstocks, lubricants and other petroleum products in the United States. As a growth organization which successfully completed its IPO, PBF needed a fully integrated solution with the flexibility of adapting to an ever-changing business landscape.

PBF initially engaged Opportune to help define its overall IT strategy and systems landscape and to complete a full ERP and ETRM system selection and implementation. The ERP implementation was completed for three refining assets as well as corporate HQ, affecting approximately 1,500 employees.

After performing a two-month fit assessment among nine ETRM solutions, Opportune architected an enterprise solution on the selection of OpenLink RightAngle. This enterprise solution supported end-to-end process and transaction flow for the commercial organization.

In an unprecedented span of 10 months, the Opportune team was able to move from fit assessment, through software selection, and ultimately implemented a full-scale ETRM solution that now serves as the backbone of PBF’s commercial business function. We utilized the extensive backgrounds of our consultants not only to gather and implement requirements, but also to assist in creating business structure, strategies and business processes.
