Opportune in the Community

“We must open the doors of opportunity. But we must also equip our people to walk through those doors.”

— Lyndon B. Johnson

It is our mission to aid a variety of diverse organizations by contributing our time and financial resources to create a place to live that we are all proud to call home. We believe that by giving to several organizations, we are able to assist in increasing the quality of life for the citizens of the city, county and surrounding areas.

Opportune in the Community Quarterly Update

Operation Military Care

Opportune recently had the pleasure of giving back to our armed forces with the help of the nonprofit organization, Soldiers’ Angels.  Soldiers’ Angels provides aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, their families, and a growing veteran population.  Founded by the mother of two American soldiers, Soldiers’ Angels motivation is earnest, “May No Soldier Go Unloved.”

Opportune employees came together to build care packages and to write letters of gratitude and encouragement to be sent to deployed service members.  Opportune’s volunteers filled nearly 200 boxes with various essentials, including food and toiletries.  Additionally, volunteers wrote heartfelt letters, reminding our troops that they are loved and their brave dedication and sacrifice is greatly appreciated. Opportune was honored to thank our military members for their service and to give back to these deserving heroes.

To date, Soldiers’ Angels volunteers have sent hundreds of thousands of care packages to deployed service members, supplied the wounded with over 25,000 First Response Backpacks at hospitals in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, and stateside VA facilities, and provided voice-controlled/adaptive laptops to over 6,000 severely-wounded service members, as well as other technology supporting rehabilitation. Opportune is proud to support our troops and organizations, like Soldiers’ Angels.  For more information or to get involved with Soldiers’ Angels, please visit www.soldiersangels.org
